Madison Schools Get Top Ratings


After a spate of recent headlines about disturbing crimes in Madison, the town is once again in the news for something it has long been known for — the quality of its schools. Forbes.com rates Madison’s schools #5 in the country among towns with a median home value between $400,000 and $599,999. Madison received an education quality score of 94.24.

The survey notes that the median home price in Madison is $440,490, and that property taxes as a percent of home value is 1.65%. In a profile of schools on greatschools.org, five Madison schools were rated either 9 or 10 out of 10: Daniel Hand High School (10/10), Walter C. Polson Upper Middle School (10/10), J. Milton Jeffrey Elementary School (10/10), Island Avenue Elementary School (9/10), and Kathleen H. Ryerson Elementary School (9/10).

Other towns with similar median home values receiving top honors in the survey were Acton, MA (#1); Sammamish, WA (#2); Southlake, TX (#3); and Severna Park, MD (#4).
