Because you are reading this, you probably are already aware of the great reputation of Madison, Conneticut’s public schools. It will come as no surprise to you, then, that Daniel Hand High School received a Silver Medal in the most recent U.S. News & World Report rankings of America’s Best High Schools. Hand also was ranked 14th in the State by Connecticut Magazine. Madison’s primary and middle schools are also very highly regarded. The Island Avenue Elementary School, the J. Milton Jeffrey Elementary School, and the Walter C. Polson Upper Middle School, all received 10 out of a possible 10 rating from greatschools.net, and the Dr. Robert H. Brown Middle School and the Daniel Hand High School both received 9 out of 10 ratings. Madison has an excellent website for its public schools, where you can find just about any school-related information that you are seeking (see links at right). On the Grade 10 CAPT test, DHHS students finished among the top ten performing school districts in the state in 3 of the 4 subtests. Overall, the Madison school district ranks third in the State of Connecticut with regard to frequency of top ten performance on CMT and CAPT subtests.
